My Life as an Alexa Developer!
This year amazon released a new SDK for Java development of Alexa skills and it required me to rewrite pretty much all of my code from scratch. That meant going back to the beginning and rethinking how my applications would work.
Now, I'm going to give you a quick run through about how to build a simple flash briefing skill using Java, the Alexa Developer Console, and API Gateway. This is going to be a fairly lengthy and technical post, so if you aren't interested in diving into the technical pieces of being a developer then you might want to skip this.
I started working on simple Kids applications for my first real trial out of a desire to create some games. I wanted to create a mad libs application that would take in multiple inputs and read back a neat little story for kids.
I started building applications in early 2017 based on one idea.Build an app, get an echo for free.
Amazon Alexa is an incredibly powerful voice translation system, and I've been having a lot of fun building applications for it and sending them out into the world. This blog is something I'm putting together to hopefully detail out my experiences as an Alexa developer and all of the many, many, many mistakes I've made. With any luck, you'll find something of value here that can help you create some clever and profitable apps.
